I am an inspiration... My name is Sarai I am 27 years old and I have gone from a size 16 to a size 6 in the space of 6 months by eating healthy and exercising. My fiance and I have decided to take up Parkour so I've created this blog to keep up with our craziness. We're also about to start P90X Insanely Reloaded and of course our crazy nutrition... I will share recipes and ideas with you as I find them... good luck with your journey and thanks for following mine...

My first actual training day...
So I went out and faced my fears today... and failed... I've decided that Parkour is first and foremost a mind-game... I mean I've spent the last 27- almost 28- years of my life being told that it is "safer" to go around an obstacle... NOT to go over it... I lost track of how many times I would run up to the bench I was trying to speed vault and then punk myself out.... ugh!! I know it's a fear thing... I'm afraid I'm going to get hurt or look stupid.... I have got to get past the fear and just do it... but it's not as easy as I thought it would be... I guess I just expected myself to be better at it... but I keep telling myself it was the first day out and I need to just keep trying.... practice makes perfect right?

you'll get more confident... you got out and did it, that is enough bravery for today! Baby steps :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you expected to be David Belle by the end of day 1, but as Linnea said, "Parkour is something that requires lots of practice to see any progress made." You are totally right about it being a mind game, but jumping from the top of one building in Lisse to the other is just a jump...it's the mind that you have to overcome.
